man's family demands full inquiry

The family of a man who died this morning after being restrained by police and sedated by paramedics have called for an independent investigation into his death.

The 23 year old Meadow Heights man died about 4.45am in the back of an ambulance on the way to the Royal Melbourne Hospital after first being taken to Broadmeadows police station.

The family's lawyer,imitation oyster rolex datejust, Michael Kelly,imitation the oyster perpetual datejust, this afternoon released a statement that said they were "extremely concerned" about the circumstances of their son and brother's death "while in police custody".

Police intended to take him to the Northern Hospital but he began bashing his head on the inside of the van. The officers then decided to divert the van to Broadmeadows police station where paramedics sedated him.

Superintendent Blayney said at one stage up to six police were needed to restrain the man "as he struggled violently".

He said the man was put in an ambulance to be taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, but while the ambulance was travelling on Pascoe Vale Road in Glenroy his condition deteriorated and he died. Attempts to revive him with CPR failed.

Superintendent Blayney said the incident was "tragic".

"(The man) was to our knowledge indicating signs of self harm and psychotic behaviour. We are in a situation where our thoughts and prayers go out to the family ,fake rolex datejust perpetual oyster. Unfortunately the worst possible scenario has occurred."
